About This Vineyard

According to history, the domaine was established by nuns who called themselves Les Béates (the Blessed) and who settled in the remote villages of the Provence at that time, mainly in order to teach children how to read and write. Bernard Terrat was the president of a large industrial company until he fell under the spell of the location and the excellent conditions for viticulture which the Domaine Les Béates offered and bought it.

In 1996, he merged with the Chapoutiers, a family famous for their viticulture, who had introduced biodynamic viticulture to this area and had built a new wine cellar. In 2000, he bought 28 hectares of vineyards, thus doubling the wine-growing area. In 2002, the next step was taken, and the shares held by the Chapoutier family became the property of Pierre-Francois Terrat (his son), who joined the company with the goal of making the Domaine Les Béates into one of the best wine estates in the area.
