About This Vineyard
Gregory Monnier began his domaine in 2004 after having worked as chemist. He cultivates 3 hectares of organic vines in AOC Côtes du Jura, ans 35 acres on the prestigious appellation Chateau-Chalon. His vines, planted in Nevy-On-Seille on blue marl and detritus, produce grapes that best express the typical taste of the Jura terroir. Concerned about environmental problems such as pollution of soil by the systematic use of herbicide, in 2006 Gergory decided to turn towards organic agriculture. Herbicides are replaced by weed control with mowing and tillage and chemicals for treatment of the vines are replaced by herbal products. Pretty good for a chemist!
