About This Vineyard

Alpamanta Estate, whose name in the local dialect means love to earth, is a Demeter certified organic vineyard farmed using biodynamic techniques. The vineyard was created in 2005 by three close friends, Andréj Razumovsky from Austria, his cousin André Hoffmann from Switzerland, and Jérémie Delecourt from France. Their aim was to establish a world class biodynamic winery in Mendoza, Argentina — one of the New World’s most ideal regions for growing grapes.

The vineyard cultivates a range of varietals including Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

The Estate Malbec 2007 was rated 89 points by Stephen Tanzer and the Alpamanta wines have been consistent medal winners in various competitions over the past 3 years.

A delicate cut like Omaha Steaks Filet Mignon, or a steak with mushroom sauce, would go gloriously with this Iron Horse Estate Pinot Noir, a beautiful bottle with raspberry, red cherry flavors, a very pretty, soft, ripe entry and a long silky finish.

The stylistic vision of this Wilamette wine is pure Pinot Noir fruit with a soft, juicy mouthfeel, balanced oak and soft, sweet, ripe tannins. The unique methodology of this vintner creates wines that are memorable and demand equally impressive foods - here, go for an Earthy accompaniment like root vegetables, truffles or mushrooms.
