About This Vineyard

Alpamanta Estate, whose name in the local dialect means love to earth, is a Demeter certified organic vineyard farmed using biodynamic techniques. The vineyard was created in 2005 by three close friends, Andréj Razumovsky from Austria, his cousin André Hoffmann from Switzerland, and Jérémie Delecourt from France. Their aim was to establish a world class biodynamic winery in Mendoza, Argentina — one of the New World’s most ideal regions for growing grapes.

The vineyard cultivates a range of varietals including Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

The Estate Malbec 2007 was rated 89 points by Stephen Tanzer and the Alpamanta wines have been consistent medal winners in various competitions over the past 3 years.

color is deep, dark red with a magenta hue. This wine is layered on nose with aromas of black and red fruits (blackberries and blackcurrants, raspberries and cherries) and floral scent of violets abound on its complex nose, with hints of spices and minerals. It is an elegant and rich wine with a succulent and muscular structure of round velvety tannins. Subtle French oak and toast flavors are well balanced and fully integrated through mid-palate and well into finish, which is delicate, yet very long. It pairs well with steak, cassoulet, duck, venison and other hearty fare, including strong and sharp cheeses. Tasting Panel rating: 90.

The 2011 Chakana Estate Selection Malbec comes from Uco and Lujan de Cuyo and is aged for 12 months in French oak (30% new). Tasted twice, it has a delightful bouquet with crisp red cherry, strawberry and vanilla scents that are beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins and crisp acidity. It is harmonious and focused, with caressing vibrant red berry fruit on the bright, classy finish. This is a sophisticated Malbec: feminine and seductive. Drink now-2018.Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
