About This Vineyard

24 Karat’s organic vineyard has 46 hectares under vine, with a total of 4 white varieties (Semillon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier) and 6 red varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec). The majority of our fruit is contracted under a long term agreement to a major premium Australian wine producer.

We are using a small portion of our fruit to produce organic wines under the 24 Karat label (the name comes from the address of the winery which is 24 Road, Karridale). We are currently focusing on Sauvignon Blanc Semillon blend, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. In the future we intend to expand our varietal styles to incorporate the other varieties grown on the vineyard. We are also looking forward to harvesting Burgundian clones of Chardonnay, which will complement the Mendoza (Gin Gin) clone and Clone 5 already grown on the vineyard, adding another dimension to the wines.

At 24 Karat Wines have invested considerable time and money in the initial establishment phase of the vineyard to ensure we get the highest quality of fruit possible from each vintage. We employ biodynamic and organic principles to enhance the health of our fruit and the vineyard, and avoid the use of deleterious chemicals on the property. High quality fruit production means minimal intervention is required in the winemaking process. Our efforts were rewarded in 2004 when we were awarded ‘The Most Outstanding New Vineyard’ at the Wine Industry Association of Western Australia’s Awards for Excellence.
