About This Vineyard
A small family owned wine business established in 1928 making estate grown organic wines from a 10 hectare vineyard. Focussing on low yielding, high quality crops, the resulting wines continue to receive critical acclaim within Australia and overseas, with demand constantly outstripping supply. Rick Burge and Burge Family Winemakers (not to be confused with Grant Burge, although the families are related) has established itself as an icon producer of exceptionally rich, lush and concentrated Barossa red wines. Rick Burge’s sense of humour is evident with the Nice Red (a Merlot Cabernet blend made for those who come to cellar door and ask ‘Do you have a nice Red?’. Clean, dark berries; quite powerful texture and structure; savoury, earthy, chocolatey edges to the fruit core; lots of character; long finish.
