About This Vineyard

It all started with the hand of fate. Marie-Thérèse Chappaz, who was studying to be a midwife at the time, inherited a parcel of pinot noir from her uncle Maurice Troillet. In 1987 after working as a midwife for 6 years she finally took over the winery and the vineyards. The acres of terraces included 35 year old plots and Marie-Thérèse grew the vineyard so that today she has 8 acres located in five towns: Fully, Martigny, Charrat, Leytron, Saillon Chamoson.

She is an enthusiastic follower of gentle methods of cultivation, using organic and biodynamic principles in her farming. In the Liaudisaz cellar, the wine delivery also benefits from the delicacy of her touch. No forceps, but instead traditional winemaking, respectful of each variety and its characteristics. ‘I react to changing conditions with each vintage,’ she says, to develop the wine’s personality, reflecting the climate and terroir from which it was born.
