About This Vineyard

Agnes and René Mosse specialize in organic wines made from vineyards surrounding the village of Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay, just south of Angers in the Loire Valley. They farm their vineyards—3 hectares of Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon, 7 hectares of Chenin Blanc and a little bit of Gamay, Chardonnay, Grolleau Gris and Grolleau Rouge —using biodynamics, which they’ve been practising since 2001.

The Mosse philosophy involves natural fermentation with minimal intervention, but with the judicious use of sulphur (the individual fiches techniques provided by the domaine give information on sulphur concentrations, usually in the order of 40-50 mg/l) Agnès and René prevent the rampant oxidation that is found in the wines of some other natural winemakers.
